Step 2. Configure your Asterisk server.

a) Register with the fwdOUT™ Network

In /etc/asterisk/iax.conf:

In the "[general]" section, please include

            register => ACCOUNT:PASS@iax.fwdOUT.net
            allow=ulaw
            allow=gsm

(where account and PASS are replaced with your fwdOUT™ account and password)

And, add a section like this

              [fwdOUT]
              type=friend
              username=ACCOUNT
              secret=PASS
              host=iax.fwdOUT.net
              context=fromfwdOUT
              auth=rsa
              inkeys=freeworlddialup

Then reload the iax tables to confirm

              *CLI> reload
              *CLI> iax2 show registry

              Host            Username    Perceived        Refresh  State
              65.39.205.123:4569 ACCOUNT 24.225.213.218:4569 60                  Registered

b) Provide a dial pattern to get to fwdOUT™ Network

In extensions.conf: And in the appropriate context, e.g., default or internal, add

              exten => _394.,1,SetCallerId,
              exten => _394.,2,Dial(IAX2/ACCOUNTID:PASSWORD@fwdOUT/${EXTEN:3},60,r)
              exten => _394.,3,Congestion

(you can replace the 394 with '8' or whatever prefix you’d like to reach fwdOUT™.)

c) Allow users to come in

And define a context in which calls from fwd terminate:

              [fromfwdOUT] ;match the context in iax.conf
              ; make sure we only accept local calls, limit to 30 minutes
              exten => _1973437XXXX,1,Dial(ZAP/1/${EXTEN},60,T,L(1800000:1790000))
              exten => _1973635XXXX,1,Dial(ZAP/1/${EXTEN},60,T,L(1800000:1790000))
              exten => _1973457XXXX,1,Dial(ZAP/1/${EXTEN},60,T,L(1800000:1790000))

              ; watch out for 900, 976, and Bahamas#
              include => fromfwdOUT-catchall

              [fromfwdOUT-catchall]
              exten => _.,1,Congestion
              exten => h,1,Hangup     ;hangup event
              exten => i,1,Hangup     ;invalid event
              exten => t,1,Hangup     ;timeout event

Note. On my personal system, I prefixed the ZAP/1/*67${EXTEN} as ZAP/1/*67${EXTEN} to make the call anonymous.

You will also need the freeworlddialup.pub key in your /var/lib/asterisk/keys/ directory.

Step 3) Share your routes with other fwdOUT™ Network users
